I was asked on my website by an enduser who logged in: "Are poll members allowed to verbally announce your party affiliation when going to vote?"
My answer to this was: "Poll workers can only reference the ballot and provide nonpartisan information, such as identifying the names of the candidates and the offices they're running for, but they cannot offer any advice or influence on party affiliation. During a primary, when different parties have separate ballots, the distinction between Democratic and Republican ballots is important. However, in a general election, everyone uses the same ballot, so there’s no need to differentiate by party at that time.
Poll workers must stay neutral and ensure they provide accurate, factual assistance."
What are your thoughs on this? Do you feel I am correct or incorrect?
